Are there any websites which might help me discover which regiment my grandfather served in during Word War 1 and where in France he might have served?

Yes lots.
you could try ancestry.co.uk or findmypast.co.uk - you will have to pay for those tho. (I think you can do pay as you go or short term cheap subscriptions).
I would suggest the best place to start is the nationalarchives.gov.uk. at the very least you should be able to get a medal card there.
If you fancy posting his details in the genealogy section there are helpful peeps in there who would have a look for you.
