'missing presumed found' was the winning project in an architecture competition sponsored by Scotland's national Centre for Architecture, Design and the City. The gist of it was that black books bearing the title "Read Me" were left lying around in public places. People picked them up and read the instructions - they were to describe - from an architectural perspective - the environment in which they found themselves. Once they had done so they were asked to place the book in a different public place and so on - I have no idea what the fruit of this was or whether then managed to finally retrieve any of the books, I presume the odd one was stolen outright.
