No ( or yes) Ganae has asked a proper question
as I listen to crazy Arabic preachers ( in Arabic of course ) I must on how the Islamic renaissance led the world between 9 -12th centuries in Science and Math....
7th grade is 12 - 13 y o isn't it ?
One of the answers to: " why did the Islamic renaissance end ? " is
the rulers supporting it died out.
start with the Abbasid Caliphate here
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Abbasid_Caliphate
and there is an internal reference to the Islamic Goldern Age wh is here
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Islamic_Golden_Age
I am not writing this essay for you
Kairouan has the eearliest mosque but I am not sure if it had a scientific tradition and you could use that to show that the theology and science diverted relatively early
If you read up about the umayyads in Cairo, ( and Fostat ) you could show Al Azhar mosque had a scientific and medical tradition
Finally - if you are being taught this course by Christians you are well and truly screwed as none of the understand the achievements of 1000 y ago ( and why it ended ) and if you are being taught by Islamic scholars they will expect you to read the orig documents in Arabic.... good luck
The Golden Age ended when the empirical tradition ( experiment and conclusion ) was replaced by the mystical tradition ( if I pray really hard, God will reveal to me ). And one worked ( empiricism ) and was replaced by one that obviously didn't work ( pray and God will tell you )
good luck
