1911 and censuses are done every ten years, so the next one will be.......
after that, though, nothing for ages. They threw away the 1931 results and 1941 was cancelled, so you'll be waiting from 2021 to 2051, by which time I won't need to look up my ancestors becasue I'll have joined them.
incidentally, you can't see much of them online at the moment unless you pay some commercial website like Ancestry or Findmypast.

However, some are being published free here

That's noncensusical....
UK census records are kept confidential for 100 years before being made because the government are overly protective of our data.

I think the last census was in 2011 wasn't it ? In which case unless they change the rules it will be available to the public (presumably online) in 2111.
Sorry the *next* census. If they continue to take them, that will be taken in 2021. In which case it will be available in 2121.

There is some discussion as to whether they are needed any more.

Thanks for your answers they were very helpful.x
1911
before its time apparently as a result of a FOI ( freedom of information request ). I am not sure what happened.

1931 - thrown away - long history of councils being told to destroy their census returns and they looked at all that work and .... didnt throw it away

// There is some discussion as to whether they are needed any more.//
The discussion about what censuses are for and what data do they need to collect, and for what end ....
that discussion started in 1851 no less

there was then a realisation that being asked what your occupation was,
was different to whether they were employed or unemployed

Why did they throw away the 1931 census?
