Could some kind person tell me if I could catch a bus from Manchester To Preston and use my Concessionary bus pass (i.e. free travel).

To use your pass, you would need to split the journey into smaller parts, each covered by a regular service bus...this would take very much longer - not to mention the inconvenience!

the definition of an "express" service is one which makes stops with gaps of 15 miles or more (eg megabus). if that definition holds, your pass will be valid on Lancashire United's service X41 between Manchester and Blackburn. This would cut the overall journey time to under 3 hours.
