There was presentation in Dhaka, Bangladesh in 2012 by British Art Historian Charles Greig, who specializes in British paintings of 17th and 18th Century India, (as he was introduced ) where he talked about his recent discovery of two paintings by German-born Johann Zoffany
I have extensibly searched Google and other search engine about Mr. Charles Greig , the British art historian, but showed no result. I have also searched Yate University and Royal Academy to find out the time frame he mentions about the exhibition took place on Zoffany, but again could not find any comments, writeup, or any mention of any Charles Greig where he claims these two Zoffany paintings are with him. Can anyone please give me any information ( contact, address ) about him ? Thanks.

Zoffany is a reputable C18 artist
and look up wiki - he did visit India
He [Z] would have done this because of - - - money
There would be Nabobs willing to pay Zoffany good prices for 'conversation pieces' - the type of art he specialised in
It is quite possible that various paintings were 'left behind' when the British were booted out in 1947. and then their provenance was forgotten. [I cant name one Indian artist from 1780 altho my grandfather was ICS]
The reason I write this is that a copy of the American Declaration of Independence was found in a Simla bookshop in 2010
