..that as well as Gness I'm known as Mary.....my dad was one of eighteen children and the first born girl to each of them was named Mary.....and many of the sons married a Mary....

I am surrounded by Marys...have been all my life... and newbies into our family don't have many names to remember despite there being dozens of us.....just say Mary and you'll be grand....

My daughter's been to a play in Ireland today....The Six Marys....a one woman play about growing up in Ireland in the 50s surrounded by Marys....

The Mary who made her laugh most is the one who has given up church confession for a different type of confession....the recycling centre.....

"Bless me Father..it's been two weeks since my last visit...HAVE I REALLY DRUNK ALL THAT?!

Not sure how to take her laughter....... ;-)....x

I think your rosary would have melted under the strain ...
Your father and his 17 siblings all named their first child Mary? We're they all girls or were there some boys? ;)

Lots of Jeromes in Waterford minty!

I won't post the name my husband has just come out with - I'll probably get suspended...
EEK ??
We've decided that I'll choose the name if it's a girl and he'll choose if it's a boy. Some of his choices are a little outlandish.
as long as it is not pineapple or sunshine or ferret or similar ! strange what some celebrities want to name their offspring what's with Bear nowadays ?
God knows, some children are cursed by the stupidity of their parents.

Husband has just suggested Dexter Blackc@ck for a boy.

I prefer Miles.
Miles is miles better !
He was only joking and I must say it's a good job we've got a mattress protector. ;)
double EEK !
NoM I believe its a custom in some very devout Catholic families to give all their children, both boys and girls "Mary" as one of their names, often as their first name. They are called by whatever their second name is.

Yes...we have a few Jeromes....good luck if it's a boy, NoM... :-)

Almost, Woof.....Mary was a favoured name to honour the Virgin Mary but we were called after granny but a few of us had it changed just a little.
I was always Mary....there was MaryB...Maud....Maureen....but mostly Mary.... :-(
We also had a family name..not Patrick...for boys....

When my brother and five cousins won a trophy as a crew they were lined up for a photo and when the reporter asked for names for the paper they all gave the same name....
Come on now, lads....he said.....stop making a fool of me....give me your right names.....
The paper put the same name under each lad to identify them....

My brother is known as ***** the dancer....so he's not mixed up with ***** the rower......*****singer.....and all the others....

I didn't follow the tradition with mine....couldn't bear any more.. :-)
I've got a good Irish name, inherited as a family thing and I absolutely hate it.
Luckily my middle name helps if I combine the two.
My family is the same. My dad was 1 of 13. His dad 1 of 14. His dads siblings had similar sized families and they all called their kids after their siblings.
this is wonderful news, i can now start calling you lairy mary xxx
