Does anybody know this question please:


explain why the europeans exploed the african coast and tried to cross the atlantic. what had these explorers achieved by 1550

The euros went down the coast of Africa because of trade !


Actually it was initially the portuguese


and liven up your essay by pointing out that Lagos in Nigeria is named after lagos in s portugal.


The stimulus to Portuguese was done by Henry the Navigator, 1400s from S Portugal - Sagres I think.

i was woundering if you could give me abit more please to go by or some good websites

They wanted to find their way to the east to trade with India and China. (They already traded, but via overland routes - the Silk Road; but it was slow and expensive.) Columbus went west because he hoped to find a new route to China. He didn't know America was in the way. When they had discovered America, there were romours of vast gold deposits, so many of the later conquistadors were after wealth. Others went to convert natives to Christianity. Googling some of the phrases above should help.
