Hello. Late as usual these days. it was His Nibs's first rugby match of the season and he was very keen that I should go. Tbh I was unenthusiastic as I fancied a lie-in. (We were out on Friday evening. How does he bounce back so well?) But, of course, I agreed! And I am glad I did. To see him in his kit was a little thrill and he played superbly well. He said it was because he wanted to do well in front of me. Which was nice!
Anyway, to the crossword. Funny one.A good few anagrams, which I am quite good at, helped! Some clues seemed very simple and others I found difficult. I suppose that's the thing I like...There is one I can't parse (as Mamylynne has taught me to say) and one I am not sure about my answer
The first is
Game in wind, with runs by opener for Surrey.
The answer is (I am confident) snakes and ladders and that takes care of the game bit. but the rest? Apart, of course for the s from Surrey

And the one I am not confident about my answer is
What sounds like quite a ceremony. I have R?T? so rite would fit and that's the ceremony part. But the rest doesn't make sense to me.
As ever, I shall be grateful for guidance.

Well well well. Snake means wind. Of course it does! And, now that you have said it, I can remember SWMBO moaning about ladders in her stockings.
But I don't wear them so it's not something I have given much thought to.
