I think it's a Yorkshire thing, OH was the first person I saw do it but it is quite nice, Wensleydale is a good cheese to use though I get bolshy and have Lancashire.
Either - I'm not fussed.
OMG. cannot be doing savoury with sweet. Personal choice..it is either or! Oh yuk .....
With, sweet and savoury is taste heaven x
I was born and bred in South Yorkshire and I've never heard of having cheese with Christmas cake so it's not really a Yorkshire thing. More than likely it's a West Yorkshire thing since Look North aka Look Leeds were promoting the debate.
Used to work with an Australian vet who made us a rich
......fruit Christmas cake. She always added a slice of cheese with each portion!

Well I’m from West Yorkshire and I like a nice crumbly cheese with mine. Either Wensleydale or Lancashire which is more salty
Both.....as long as there is some seriously good red or dessert wine.....
Not for me. I don't like sweet and savoury. One or t'other.
Never heard of Christmas cake with cheese, and my dad's from Yorkshire. I can see how they'd go together if you like both, but I'd stick with just the cheese.
With cheese !!! ??? !?!?!?
It does not compute.
No, no, no. No cheese. Doesn't sound right.
Cheese with crackers
Dont do cake
I was brought up on the Lancashire/Yorkshire border and I've never heard of it but my wife says her Yorkshire-born father used to like Christmas cake with cheese, usually Lancashire.
Without for me too.
I've never tasted Christmas cake with cheese in it, or heard of it before.
Not 'in' it Tony, served alongside it.
Gorgeous with Lancs or Wensleydale.
And not just with Xmas cake but with any Maderia type cake too.
Had it with friends from Yorkshire many years ago, they said cheese with un-iced cake but with marzipan and icing leave it for later. I always serve a sharp crumbly cheese with mine. A big dollop of mascarpone goes well too
Thanks Cap'n.
Nooo never had cheese with Christmas cake.
