After his suicide his body was taken out into the garden of the bunker by his aides, placed in a shallow pit and burned with petrol. On arrival, the Russians combed the area for evidence of his remains and claimed to have found at least a fragment of Hitlers skull with the fatal bullet hole. I beleive this artefact is still held in an archive in Moscow.
