What was Henry VIII hat called ?
Henry the VIII is often portrayed wearing a partiuular style of hat, such as the one shown in a painting of him by Holbein, which is on view at Belvour Castle Lincolnshire. In 1959 Mr Whippy Ice cream vans were launched in England and used Henry's hat as a component of their Mr Whippy Logo along with Green Sleeves as their musical chime. A book on Mr Whippy is being researched, hence the resquest for answers on this subject.

I have many books on Henry VIII and have only seen the hat described as a 'cap' or 'beret' - unlikely though that sounds. I suppose it could be a fur trimmed beret with feather. Its a bit of a Catch22 question, as the most common term for the hat seems to be a 'henry viii style hat'. Sorry I can't be of more help!
