Back in the 50s I read a story, probably in one of the Wide Range Reader Books, about a man who persuaded all the men on a ship crossing the Atlantic to let him shave them before they arrived at New York. However, for a joke, he gave them some reason I can't remember that he should shave only one half of their faces before shaving the other half. When they disembarked in New York all the men were only half-shaven. Can anybody tell me who this man was? Was it a true story?

Apparently there were a lot of half shaved men in New York when all the Barbers walked out on strike in the early 1900's

SR, if anything is stupid, it is saying something didn't happen, when you have no clue if it did or not. I advise you leave the thread, especially as you can't disprove this story.
