Rechargeable Versus Standard Size C Batteries
2 Answers
I have a Santa Claus that is animated, sings and dances and uses 4 size C batteries. It has DC5V 500mA printed on the place where one inserts the jack. My daughter used normal batteries in it and it worked, but I have tried rechargeable batteries which were fully charged and it fails to work. On the box it says do not use rechargeable batteries. Is there a reason why they say only to use standard batteries? I only wanted to check that it was working.

These are 1.5V and deliver current at a slightly different rate than the commonest rechargeable which are Nickel metal-hydrate at 1.2V. These differences do result in different performances of certain items although very often the item does not suffer from going against the "rule".
