Jackdaw, in the 60s if your boss wanted to sack you for any reason or no reason, he could.
"No real British wars"

Ahem, N Ireland?
I enjoyed the 70s - a huge range of music in the charts, loved the cars and British motorbikes were still on the road.
Loved the 70's, hard to believe it's 50 years since!
I actually left school on the Friday and started work on the Monday. Lousy wages though. The dreaded Thatcher didn’t become PM until 1979. My wife and I cried. We knew what was coming.
The 70's was terrific ( and no cctv either ).
I actually left school on the Friday and started work on the Monday.

So did I ( no 6 week summer break ).
Thatcher didn’t become PM until 1979.

The only down side to the 70's ( still was the last year of the 70's, destroyed most of the 80's though )
Tony, did you not have a ‘ gap year’ ? :-)
Didn't get them as an engineering apprentice, anne ;-)
:-)
I was born in seventies (most of the best people were ;-) I didn't have a care in the world.
Northern Ireland doesn't have wars, it has "troubles".

Nothing a wee dose of Immodium won't fix.
All I remember is playing out. We rarely watched TV, my mum & dad were always in work, we never went without (wealthy grandparents) so I had a happy childhood in the 70's.

And despite what people think of our youngsters today they aren't all on social media. My son has taught himself so much and the internet plays a massive part in that.
I'm really trying to think about this, but it seems that the 70's must have been not so bad since being 50 years younger must be good.
LOL ^^^^^, true sanmac.
On a purely selfish and personal level, the seventies were a wonderful decade for me.

Met,fell in love and married my wonderful husband and had two beautiful daughters, the business was doing nicely too.

It's often easy when all's well with you not to look beyond at what is happening on a wider scale.

the seventies were a wonderful decade for me.

And for me to, Mamya ( if I could only turn back time, maybe I should buy a Delorean)
way ahead of the 2020s so far...
