wellington

alderney

cairngorm take your pick, more likely wellington

Er Alderney is a Channel Island invaded by the Germans in WWII

More likely that!

Wellington is not in the UK - but neither is Alderney. So it must be Cairngorm
Tobermory?
Wellington not in the UK?? there's a lot of people in 5 towns that dont agree ---- though i dont think that they have been invaded

Well unless there's a Womble called "Fishguard" http://www.historic-uk.com/HistoryUK/Wales-History/Fishguard.htm

I reckon it's Alderney and the subtlety of the status of the channel islands has escaped the question setter

My apologies, now I think about it IO think the correct wording of the questions was 'Which is the only place in the British Isles, which shares a name with a Womble, to be invaded by a non-British force since 1066?".

So I reckon the Alderney answer is right.

Alderney also had its own concentration camp during the war,

which a lot of people also forget

I'm sorry, was there a womble called Alderney?
Was Alderney a Womble then? Never heard of that one in the 70's - or is this The All New Wombles Show or something?
