apparently Keir Starmer (and David Lammy) are getting stick for allegedly featuring the Holocaust-Mahnmal (holocaust memorial) in political campaign material.

(other reports are available but are in German.....)

was it unwise of messrs Starmer and Lammy to have done this, or is it a case of mischief makers creating a non-issue?

the complainants seem to have thought it was an election campaign video. It wasn't. I don't think they're mischief makers, they've just got the wrong end of the stick.
He is not campaigning.
When politicians (left, right or centre) go to Germany, they always pay their respects the holocaust victims.no matter what A reporter said filming the solemn site in a clip is a 'massive faux pas in Germany'0
Looks like somebody high up at Das Daily National Socialist Supporter has an inventive streak.
No doubt the Labour Leader is trying to underline his right-on support for Jewish people, given his party's lamentable record of antisemitism under his predecessor.
except that he didn't even identify the place, which was what the Germans were complaining about. Hard to see how that would influence British voters either way.
Just trying to play 'international statesman'. Both of them, of course, said little, if anything, about the appalling anti-semitism of Corbyn and his friends. Just the usual grandstanding, vacuous, pointless exercise that, sadly, all Parties display.
Well it was unwise because mischief makers were always gong to pick up on it.

One wonders what the advisors are thinking when they do these things.
//He is not campaigning.//

That's exactly what he's doing. In the wake of Boris's departure he has high hopes (he said so himself) and is setting his stall.

Yes indeed.
gromit: "He is not campaigning. " - well that's got to be the silliest thing you've said this year! Of course he's campaigning, he's trying to show that he is not an antisemitic Corbynski type but a fluffy bunny normal nice guy who loves the Jews. He personally, probably is, but sadly he's got a lot of nasties of various shades "under the bed" as it were. I'd expect nothing less of a LOTO just after a PM has resigned. He wants to show the public he is an electoral prospect. Sadly the stats are not on his side.
When does a potential future PM, in his /her eyes, ever stop campaigning?
What on earth are the antisemitic party hanging round the holocaust memorial for anyway? Sickos.
Is it taboo to photograph? Really? - or is it taboo to campaign outside?
can someone explain why?

Japan: Shinto shrine to the war dead is frequent the place Politicians ( Abe) rewrite history.
