Good afternoon, I’ve been enjoying “Nemesis”, a very smart puzzle by Chalicea. Have got lots of answers, but some clues I’m not sure of and would appreciate HINTS for the following, please. Thanks in advance!

www.crossword.org.uk/nemesis.html

A rather cocky little fellow who appears in the first row of the grid speaks the words that circle the remainder of the perimeter. He tempts a number of characters who appear as entries in the grid. Solvers must highlight his nemesis.

ACROSS:
12 In Reunion, white ordinary soldier primarily treats military uniform (7) :
BLA???L
19 In Holyrood push Ethiopia's money (4) : ?IE?
36 In Perth strips from time to time at library - ultimately shameless! (5):
?IR?S
DOWN:
7 Briefly submerge amphibious vehicle (4) : ?A??
10 Curiously listen absorbing essentially merry snicker in Glamis (7): L?I?TLE
18 Angle to strengthen with an iron plate (4): F?U?
29 In Glasgow we polish up local job centre (5) : B??O?

PS, Matakari - did you see I'd mentioned this puzzle to you earlier in the week? I thought you'd enjoy it (and thought you'd find it relatively straightforward).
Did you finish "postcard" matakari?
Roslyn, I was scared to ask that question!
LOL!!!
This was a nice afternoon stroll...
Thanks, Roslyn. I agree with only the 'stroll' bit, I did the puzzle one morning.

Thanks Roslyn and NACW, I’ve got three of the lot now ( Blanche, Birr, Snirtle), but am still lost by the rest for which I seek answers. I now have:

24 (A) Is my halo slipping ignoring start of your jokey way of describing addiction? (7)
?H?L??M ( Had originally CHILLUM, but the U is wrong. )
36 ( A ) In Perth strips from time to time at library - ultimately shameless! (5):
?IR?S
7 (D) Briefly submerge amphibious vehicle (4) : ??C?
18 ( D ) Angle to strengthen with an iron plate (4) : F???
29 (D) In Glasgow we polish up local job centre (5) : B??O?

PS: I was knocked out by “Postcard”. I await the review. I think “Nemesis” is more doable for me.
Thanks, Matakari.
7 Duck, double definition
18 Fish, ditto
29 Buroo, local job centre (it comes from a pronunciation of 'bureau'!)

Matakari, well done on finishing 'Postcards'. I'm surprised you're finding Nemesis... your Nemesis!

Thanks, NACW! The answer to 24(A), I believe, is within the first part of the clue ( WHOLISM ). As for 36(A): ?IRRS
36 Tirrs - check Chambers.
24 Aholism - a subtractive anagram.
