A rather random request. I am doing my family tree, and have a great grandparent who I can’t find. I’m fairly sure they were from Mauritius, and I would like to try and order a marriage certificate. I’ve googled, and only found an email address which does not work. I wondered if anyone was better at this than me, and could find a way for me to contact the Mauritius government/records office to request a marriage certificate ?!

Thank you, Douglas. I’ve chosen a random government department and asked them! Hopefully they will point me in the right direction..
You might have been better picking Gender and Family.
Very welcome.

12. How long does it take to obtain relevant requested copies?

However for,

Email address (unless it's the one that you've already tried): [email protected]

Quote from their Customer Charter:
"Any person should produce a proof of his/her identity and a stamp of the value of Rs 25 to obtain a copy of . . . birth or marriage certificate for his/her ascendants or descendants".

So it looks like you'll need to find a way to send proof of your identity (perhaps a copy of your passport?) and return postage. Postal rates are here:

(Rs100 = £1.83)
