What Are The Benefits Of Learning French Or Spanish For Promotion Or Job ?
2 Answers
Hi . English is my second language . I ve been learning it quite a lot and now i would like to learn another one . In my school I ve learnt a little of French and read somewhere that now the most popular and useful language is spanish . I am a little bit perplexed as I cant find real reasons to learn either of these languages . To tell the truth , I ve been thinking of abandoning this idea and may be to try a new profession or something . So If any of these languages were for you in use or could help you with promotion or something please tell

A friend I've not seen for many years now, was a polyglot and used her skills professional ly. Seemed to think they weren't valued much as far as additional income was concerned. I got the impression that it allowed one a greater chance to get a job offer if languages were needed, but employers were reluctant to pay more for the skill. Maybe don't count on it...

Standard Chinese would be a good language to learn professionally or maybe Hindi.
If you want to learn another European language think about German as it the official language of Belgium, Austria, Luxembourg and one of the official languages of Switzerland. Many Eastern Europeans can speak it fluently, too.

Maybe don't count on it bringing fame or fortune, but if you enjoy languages learn them for their own sake, and if it becomes handy, that's just 'icing on the cake'.
