Saved their descendants all the bother of getting here from Africa once the unpleasantness was sorted out.
why did they come here - money and jobs for chrissakes
overseen by one Enoch Powell I point out

this is observed - reverse colonialism. Empire ends and the flow of people reverses. The only question is why

The only english pope - hadrian IV ( or VI?) was said to be an example Nicholas Breakspear. Also I think known as nicholas anglicanus - because and englishman in Rome was so remarkable
Did they ? Or did they simply see an opportunity being offered and took it ?
This is the social issues, which apply to all of us in multinational society.
Two important things. First, how many generations are remembered in the society? Average is 3-4. Generation is considered a period of 25-30 years, so take any migrants who arrived to other country. In 75-100 years no one remembers where your ancestors actually came from.

Another issue is bond to the land. In case of slavery, one did not have any property therefore the only way to get bonded to some land is by cemetary. Sounds controversial, but if you visit your grand-grand-mothers grave, you may think that her burial place is actually your motherland.

Even if we speak not about slaves, Europe has always been moving in the last 10 000 years. One day our grand-grand-grand-children may ask exactly the same questions ;)
'In 75-100 years no one remembers where your ancestors actually came from'

You've obviously never been on Ancestry.com or roots or Friends reunited etc etc.
