I was already in love with a band called 'Queen' at thirteen. That day cemented a life long passion for the band and their music.

I were sat at home though VHS on standby... I still have the original copy I taped.

Could never stand Queen. Sir Brian May was OK - even more so when he bought Sir Patrick Moore's house to prevent him being evicted. But Mercury always gave me the creeps.

That's great ark. The thing is that at the time Queen had just got back together after a 2 year break. It's portrayed wonderfully in the film Bohemian Rhapsody, they were worried that they'd be a bit off, disjointed in some way. Not a bit of it!

Its all subjective but Queen were possibly the best rock band ever.
Remember Live Aid well.

Good heavens no!!!

The Frozen North is all a bit of a closed book to me. Spent a season or two following football (before it degenerated into the farce it is today) and travelled to quite a few away games, but you don't get a very good feel for a town when you only walk from the railway station to the football ground and back. Other than that, been there once or twice (mainly to visit steam railways and Mrs NJ's cousin on The Wirral) and have to say there are some lovely areas up there. I always feel the North is far too good for Northerners :-) :-).

Take Whitby, for example - lovely town, terminus of a steam railway, nice fish n' chips. But I always feel it should be on the south coast somewhere - round about Littlehampton, perhaps. :-)

I'm sorry to say that at age 14, I thought Queen were OK, but did not really appreciate them until my 20s, by which time of course Freddie had died.

Over the years though I have really come to love a lot of their music. I do think Freddie was an awfully good showman and so good with audiences and also a really good musician with a huge vocal range, but the rest of the band were also extremely talented (May is certainly an extremely well educated and intelligent gentleman).

We hear so much of their music all the time and most people would know a Queen song (even if they did not necessarily know it was by Queen). Brilliant band.

I spent it in front of the TV at my childhood home whilst picking off the elderflowers that I had foraged with a view to making wine. I was shortly to leave home for my job and decided that life was too exciting to make wine so I ended up binning the lot. I like Queen but wasn't a huge fan - I liked their earlier stuff. I was lucky enough to get Live 8 ticket though.
