A few months ago the king appointed Beckham Ambassador of The King's Foundation.

Surely a knighthood next for the boy from the East End?

He's been desperate for a knighthood for years. A bit OTT I think.

I hope so. He comes across as a genuinely nice guy and I believe he does a lot for charity.

I should think so eventually. When you look at some of the recipients of the honour, and the reasons it was awarded to them, he probably deserves it more than some of them. He won't be bribing politicians or trying to influence official policy either.

A has-been footballer who got back into the limelight by marrying a Spicegirl. Lots of folk do a lot for charity without even getting a gong let alone a knighthood.

Sir David Beckham just sounds silly.

I'm guessing had he been a has-been footballer who had graced Carrow Road for a few seasons, your  bitterness may have been a tad less obvious, Canary.

At the time of his marriage to the 'Spice Girl' he was still at Old Trafford and was already firmly in the 'limelight'.

Sir David Beckham sounds about right to me.

I don't think he's bothered at all.  It's her that wants it, oh so much, then she'll be Lady Beckham.  I just can't stand her but he's lovely.

Please not Lady Beckham.  Her nose will be higher than it is now.
