Been watching a lot of westerns lately .

Lot of whisky drinking ( yes I know it's coloured water or similar )

However not being a drinker - what does whisky actually taste like ?

Currently working my way through a Macallan Gold, smooth and fruity.

In the end it's a journey of discovery.

Glenmorangie produce a light coloured and light tasting drop.  At the other end of the spectrum there's Laphroaig.  It's almost orange in colour and has a strong peaty flavour.

I think they're all an acquired taste.

Like all booze it's an acquired taste.

I can remember when I first tried lager! disgusting! add lime!

I'd rather a fine and dandy than a gold watch but I don't mind a nice malt. Most of the blends are kin awful!

I wouldn't knock all blends.

 

A while ago I was searching the booze cupboard and found an unopened bottle of Teachers Highland Cream. Must have got it ages ago, likely at some duty free airport shop.

 

I was amazed at how good it was. So tried to purchase more, but they seem to have stopped producing it.  Typical, anything good gets stopped. I'm going rather easy with it now to make it last.

My Mum used to give me whisky in hot water with honey when I was ill.  Disgusting stuff.  The only spirit that is half decent (in my opinion) is rum

I like it so much that I don't drink it!  Co mmon-or-garden Teacher's or Bells are one thingand need mixing - --- but a really good whisky  is heaven, melts on the tongue.  

We have a really good whisky which is only drunk in a small quantity on New Year's Eve.
