Don't want to sound gory but when I was in the Army I was in hospital with a bloke who'd been shot by a 5.56 mm round from an Armalite rifle. The entry wound was in his right wrist. The exit wound was below his right eye. Doctors reckoned the round travelled up his arm, hit his elbow, shoulder, collar bone then mandible before it exited him.
