Why does everyone hate James Blunt so much?

I think he is a fantastic singer, although some of his songs are little weird and slightly depressing, I still think it's fantastic!

Is there any ABers out there who do really like James Blunt?

Whenever anyone becomes succesful, people are always quick to knock them. One thing that really grinds my gears is people who are fans of bands when they are semi-unknown, then slag them off when they become succesful and popular. I've got nothing at all against James Blunt, I think he's a very talented singer-songwriter.
i love james blunt his album was and still is the only album i can listen to all the way through and i love a good sing along in the car to him too. so there. lol
I can answer your first question - his music is average and his lyrics are twee.
he's making money out of it so fair play to the guy but i'm sure most people can see that it really is music by numbers. There's nothing original about his music and he is one of the worst lyricists i've heard. By that i mean i think he must simply open hise well thumbed rhyming dictionary and pick out any random words that have the same sound endings! Prime example: i know you well, i know you're smell (or something like that!) is pants really isn't it. And also in You're Beautiful he apparently 'has a plan' but by the end of the song he has to face the truth 'cos he'll never be with you. Not the best plan ever then! (another example of the amazing rhyming talent he displays by the way!)
At least you can hear what he's singing as opposed to some, and he's easy to listen too,he's just not 'Fashionable' at the moment!
im a huge fan of james blunt and was gutted when i could get tickets to see him in concert...it had sold out so fast! :(

because his music is lowest common denominator pap, the musical equivilant of baby food, about 2 steps up from Westlife. In my opinion.

He is very popular, though, his fans shouldn't have to justify their taste in music, I don't feel the need to justify mine. There are loads of ways to hear music these days, if you don't like an act, then don't listen to them, and go find something you do like. Or even make your own music.

Yeah, James Blunt is pretty good, so enjoy, I do !
I don't have a problem with him as such. I just don't like the fact that he has gotten so much recognition, when there are FAR greater singer/songwriters out there.

If you like James Blunt... go and listen to the more talented and more beautiful Damien Rice.

Hi Silversky,

I like James Blunt too. but last week when I didn't know who he was and I was trying to find out the artist and and name of the song . Boy did I catch it . I got alot of very cruel people answer . But thats ok I can hold my own .

You see I'm from Texas and James Blunt is just started becoming popular in the states as of last Nov. so there was no way I could have known who he was .

I think he blew it when he spoke in some interview and spoke with a 'posh' accent. Pop is supposed to be 'the common peoples' music and as such a load of people jumped on the bandwagon of disliking him. I also think Chris Moyles had a big influence, which is just bullying of course. I think his album is great, and it really got on my kneecaps when they would just keep playing the intro and then slag it off.

With the "posh" accent don't you see it as a little unfair, so does this mean anyone who seems a little higher than the rest (not saying they are of course!) cannot write or sing pop music?

I've been bullied at school and at work for years because of a posher accent, yet when I was about 6 years old I got bullied for having a brummie accent!

No-one should have to change who they are to make other people happy.
