Magpie Mayhem

I am aware of the procedure should you spy a magpie. I am au fait with the etiquette should there be two in sight. But there are currently ELEVEN magpies in my garden, (which, incidentally, is about 15 ft squared.) What on earth is going on?

This sounds like a magpie "court". There is an accused who has done something wrong in the magpie world and a group of others come and challenge him or her. I had this on the road in front of my house last year and it was awful as there was obviously a guilty verdict as they attacked him and pecked him to death - it was horrible!
