Who killed Jack Ruby?

We all know Jack Ruby killed Lee Oswald, who killed Kennedy, but I remember from the news at the time that a known hitman attempted to kill Ruby, and then escaped in a plane which crashed in the Atlantic. My wife remembers it too, but we can't remember the guy's name, and can't find a reference on the internet.

This is just a guess and is probably wrong, but I know someone called Sirhan Sirhan killed someone. Was it Jack Ruby?

Sirhan Sirhan assasinated Robert Kennedy, gazza. Can't help on the conspiracy thing though but there seems to be loads of info on the web.
