The German cemetery opened in about 1969 and the bodies of German servicemen were taken there from all over the UK.Some say it is because the scenery around there is like that of parts of Germany.The Commonwealth Cemetery next door contains the graves of a lot of soldiers who died in the flu epidemic of 1918, mostly ANZACS and curiously also some Germans
