I'm not certain about the others, but the original Classical Greek name for the Black Sea was the 'Inhospitable Sea'. Could the 'black' idea have come from that 'dark/threatening' suggestion? The White Sea is so-called, I suspect, because it is frequently ice-bound!
There are several myths to why the seas have their name which have all recently been prooven to be incorrect. In 1942, an archaeologist who's name i forget now, came across a missing page for the original bible. In it, it states that as God was creating the Earth in 7 days, he had little time, and because of this, he had to use a 'pait-by-numbers' set. So he subsequently gave all the seas names of colours to remembers where all the colours had to go. There you have it.
