death penalty...

in your opinion should this be brought back into england? If yes why do you think so, if no why not?
Also if it were to be brought back do you think that Manslaughter should result in the death penalty?
Again If yes why..etc.
If it were to be brought back and the public could go and watch executions would you do along?
just wondering what everyones thoughts on this were.

The only trouble with the death penalty is some of these guys (usually guys) should serve time just so they can regret their actions for many years, why should they get out so lightly, but then again I don't want my taxes being wasted on feeding and clothing these scumbags.
I really don't like the idea of the death penalty for certain murders eg children, police etc.
Whilst the murder of anyone in cold blood is awful, i can't understand why a childs life or a coppers life is more important than a middle aged Mr nobody who gets murdered.
Before the critisisms start, i am dad to a beautiful 8 year old daughter and my father was a dog handler in sussex police for 35 years.
The death penalty is no derterrant and would only be there to make us feel better (that would include me if it happened to any of my family). What is needed is life....and that means life, in prison with no priviledges and hard labour until they die.
Just my humble opinion

In my opinion, a lot of people would probably disagree with the death penalty (unless it was a membe rof your family who got killed) if prisons were harsher, because as it stands at the moment, i think that it seems they are getting away with an easy life in prison.
i read an article a bit ago saying how Myra Hindley is allowed a sewing machine to make bits and pieces for her grand-kids, and knitting needles. She is also allowed contact lenses (whats wrong with glasses?) & is even allowed her hair cut & dyed!! to me this is ridiculous! why should they be allowed to have their hair dyed!!?
People then argue - well its their human rights to have this stuff, but they took human rights away from innocent people!
Another Question is: how do you stand on the death penalty for someone who has killed someone because they killed or raped a family member of theirs? do you then still think it is a life for a life?

carrust I know where you're coming from, I'm thinking no doubt as in confessions signed with no duress. Just my opinion - a life for a life, if it was guaranteed there was 100% no innocent people being wrongly punished. In an ideal world which will never exist eh! So what is your opinion if someone murdered a member of your family and there was no doubt they had the right person?
Yes - with out a doubt.
I had to answer a question like this for my GCSE's 11 years ago and it was something I agree with totally.
In the case of premeditated murders and where there is no chance of the person ever being released they should, It would be cheaper to execute them then it is to keep them alive for the rest of their miserable lives on tax payers money. They don't have to worry where their next meal is coming from, mortgage rent payments clothes etc, they even get paid in prison why?? Get rid of them I say the prison's would be emptier and it would be a great deterrent to other lowlifes not to do it. Plus there would be more money freed up for better causes then keeping scum.
A life for a life totally agree with it.
The americans have got the right idea. Their sentences arent a joke like ours are here.
Sorry if i have offended anyone but it is the way I feel on this.

im afraid we have already proved that our justice system is incapable of being trusted with the ultimate form of justice and whilst the likes of fred+rose west, peter sutcliffe, ian huntley and all the others who truly deserve to die escape "justice", innocent people are still being convicted of murder and released years later with an apology which is better than a noose i suppose. the birmingham six are a classic example of those who were without doubt guilty in the whole of the nations eyes and yet were proved to be not guilty. so im afraid though i agree in principle i have to vote no
except for suicide bombers of course
