There was a journalist William Hickey (real name Tom Driberg) who had a column in the UK Daily Mail.

Just to clarify - 'William Hickey' was a columnist in the Daily Express, although Driberg himself did move from the Express to the Mail. There's no reference to a Hickey in the three-volume history of the Daily Mail/ Rothermere family by SJ Taylor.
