I was reading about the Hurtgen Forest Campaign and wondered why it is so unknown ?

The TV Series Band of Brothers had a large segment devoted to the Battle of the Bulge . This was the German attempt to Break Allied Lines through the Ardennes.

While there are many films featuring the Battle of the Bulge , only a few feature the Hurtgen Forest , in which the US Army suffered terrible casualties ( I think i saw one TV movie about it ) .

Perhaps the former Battle was remembered as a heroic victory whereas the Hurtgen was a long slow campaign..

I think it was because the Americans were so severly mauled and several divisions not able to fight again over what? a collection of trees. Can you name any famous Vietnam battles? same principle, although America won every battle in Vietnam it is never mentioned because of the casualty figures.
