For more on marking an answer as the "Best Answer", please visit our FAQ.He joined the Liberal party in the 1940's was elected to the House of Commons, briefly serving the constituency of Berwick-upon-Tweed and eventually became leader of the Liberals in the House of Lords. He wrote a book "Why I am a Liberal " in 1944 so yes, I would say he was Liberal. However he was a member of the Fabian Society in his younger days so perhaps he did lean a little to the left but he was at heart an economist and produced the Beveridge report for a Labour Government.
