Easter is the first Sunday after the Full Moon that occurs on or after the Vernal (Spring) Equinox (March 21) - the Paschal Full Moon. If the Full Moon falls on a Sunday then Easter is the next Sunday.

This means that Easter can fall as early as March 22 or as late as April 25.

By a quirk in the tables used to calculate Easter, Easter cannot fall on March 22 in the 20th, 21st or 22nd centuries. The earliest date is therefore March 23, which is when it will fall the year after next (2008). Three years later, Easter will be on April 24, the lastest date bar one. So in the next six years there will be an opportunity to experience Easter at or near both its extremes.

You will have to wait until 2038 for the lastest possible date (April 25). The next Easter on March 22, by the way, will be in 2285, assuming they haven't changed the rules by then!
