try contacting the Shropshire Archives run by Shropshire County Council
They have a website :
http://www.shropshire.gov.uk/archives.nsf

a personal visit may prove more useful and you may be able to check any relevant historical records and documents
I grew up near it and am sure it's a special area, the council should be able to tell you and direct you to the people who looks after it and they may be able to put you in contact with people who can help you.

Do you live locally? If so then the main library in Shrewsbury may have some historical info there or contacts for local historians.

There may be a local historical society as well.
