Hair/Scalp problems!
12 Answers
Ok, so i have a couple of problems, for years my scalp has been very flaky all over, doesnt hurt or anything, but if i touch my head, yea, it snows! I have used head and shoulders before, but it didnt work amazingly, the other problem i have, although i have thick hair, when i brush it after washing it, it comes out alot, if i catch a knot when brudhing when its wet, alot will come out, but when i am at work, when i get up, my chair is covered in strands of my hair :(
Im only 19, and have to decide between washing my hair everyday and it coming out alot, or not washing it so much and my head flaking away :(

My husband had really bad flaky scalp problems and I bought him some Oilatum shampoo which cleared it up straight away. Might not be the same problem as yours but could be worth a try.
I usually use Tresemme now, but so much of my hair seems to come out, i know it is quiet weak because when i was younger i used to be able to pull out 1/4 of my hair from the front of my head & not feel a thing!
I bought Head & shoulders on friday and used it twice in the shower to do my hair, although the flaking seems to be much much less, my hair is still coming out!
Thanks for the advice, i will look it up :)

you say your hair is very thick...well my ex had very thick and had a terrible problem finding something to sort it out...welll one day i was in the bathroom and watched him wash and condition his shoulder length thick hair...there was the problem...he rubbed in the conditioner then rinsed it with a few splashes from the shower head...his hair was clearly still full od conditioner but her stood up and started to dry his hair!!
i could have throttled him the trouble his flaky scalp had been over the years,... but any way i explained that he needs to rinse and rinse and rinse all over until the water is clear and until his hair squeaks when rubbed with his palm
well he did as he was told and his head cleared up.
could you perhaps not be rinsing thoroughly?
it is easily done....do the squeak test all over and you will know.

I "malt" twice a year - autumn and spring. If it is happening all the time see yor doctor. As for the flaky problem - it could be the central heating. My daughters hair was really bad but since we have moved to New Zealand - we dont have CH here - it has cleared up. We did use T-gel for her and it did help but didnt clear it up properly.

If your hair starts to feel a lot thinner due to the hair loss then I recommend that you get to your doctor straight away. A whole number of things that cause hair to fall out; alopecia, fungal problems, even wearing ponytails a lot! Most of these aren't serious though.
I have long hair and use a lot of styling products which causes split ends, dryness etc., so it's normal for me to brush my hair and have a bundle of strands left in the hairbrush!
For the flaking scalp, T-Gel therapeutic shampoo is good. Try that. It's a bit costly but worth a go. It's more than just an anti-dandruff shampoo so may tackle whatever problem you have.
Alternatively, pop to Boots and speak to the pharmacist over the counter.
