White Horse Inn, Ostend
Does anyone (or their parents!) remember a pub in Ostend called the White Horse Inn? It's not there now but it was in 1952. What road was it on? What is it now?

00:29 I remember the pub - I last drove past there last year. As with so many country pubs I think it is now an Indian restaurant. OK if you like Indian food - not so good if you like country pubs.

00:37 It's on the B1010, the main road from Althorne to Burnham-on-Crouch on the left approaching Burnham.
Whereabouts in Ostend is that exactly, then?

I remember the white horse inn very well.
As i remember it was on the main drag in those days where all the pubs and clubs were.
I believe that it was one or two streets back from the beach road (parallel to the beach).
In particular I recall the "Bavarian" beer garden atmosphere where you bought your beer in large 7 pint steins. (You could order less but it was cheaper the more you bought).
It had umph-pa-pa music on stage with an ongoing variety show.
I know that it is now closed but believe that it could be reactivated and would do well again.

I remember The White Horse Inn (in Belgium, Ostend). My mum and dad took me there in the days when going to Ostend felt like going to someone really far away and "exotic". I was ten then so it would be forty odd years ago. It was very much like a Bavarian inn and the bar staff wore laderhosen and I remember my dad drinking beer from a huge stein.
There was another pub in Ostend called the "Cosy Corner Inn". Inside there were all sorts of toy witches and things hanging from the ceiling, and every so often the landlord of the pub would yank on a piece of string and the item would dangle down in front of a unsuspecting customer frightening the hell out of them and much to the amusement of everyone else.
