moodiness on pill

I recently stopped taking the combined pill because i found it made me very irratable and snappy so my doctor has prescribed me the progestogen-only pill because he said its the oestrogen hormone in the combined pill which causes mood swings. But when i went to the family planning clinic for advice (before i started taking the combined pill) the nurse there told me that its the progestogen hormone which causes mood swings - does anyone know which is right?
