Extensive research carried out by the University of Lancaster has shown that Napoleon Syndrome (Napoleon, Hitler etc) is a myth. The massive investment in the data collected from 3 short and 2 tall men enabled researchers to decide amongst themselves down the pub that short men are not more aggressive than tall men.

So do you think this hugely invested research programme has identified a defining moment in our society?

Can Napoleon Syndrome be to blame for twaddle talking Scientolgy-espousing short pants Tom Cruise's failed attempts at finding true love, whilst dolphin rescuing gentle giant and all round Mr Nice Guy - Bao Xishun has married a woman a third his height and half his age. Or is it more about hairstyles?

Napoleon Bonaparte was 5'7" which was the average male height in the 18th C., jokes about his stature emulated from the time he was a young boy cadet.
Stalin was 2 archin, 4 1/2 vershoks high. That's, um, 5 foot 4.
My brother is 5'4 and the sweetest person ever to have lived, although I haven't ever ventured into his basement....

Thank you all for your answers. It would appear that the extensive and worthwhile research has a sound basis in truth. I am reasonably tall on sunny days so I dont make the shortlist. I am not disputing the facts and figures you lot present, but Napoleon Syndrome stems from the insecurity complex of being short(er) than another, no?

Whilst NapB was 5 feet and 7 French inches, his close aide John Frapp was notably taller. Hitler was (apparently) 5 feet and 8 Austrian inches whilst Himmler was a German inch taller. Is it true then that if you take an inch you can take a nation? My wife is about 5 feet and 1 inch, and she is quite aggressive sometimes, which isnt all bad.

I really hope Pippa, that your brother doesnt have a rack down there.
It won't have been the first scientific discovery that was conceived in a pub. But whether or not the huge investment was squandered on pints of Guiness is another matter (in my own personal opinion booze is NOT a waste of money).

I dated a short man once. He was 5'6" AND French. So unfortunately I don't know whether to put his arrogant aggressiveness down to midgetitis or frog's disease.
