Are you sure that's quite the right question? I suspect it's a question about the figures that appear on the back of a ten pound note; Darwin succeeded Florence Nightingale.

Waldo - Florence preceded Dickens
Well they kind of overlapped:

Nightingale: 20 Feb 1975 - 20 May 1994
Dickens: 20 April 1992 � 31 July 2003
Darwin: 7 November 2000 - current
The overlap is because notes are not withdrawn overnight else we would have to exchange our money at the bank for those of the next series.
Apologies, Kempie, you're quite right, and I didn't read the question correctly. At least I was right about it being on a tenner!
