I heard part of a song today, sounded like Rod Stewart at his soulful best, singing what sounded like Waltzing Matilda. Can't find any info on All Music Guide, anyone know this track and what album its on?

Thanks for the quick replies.
Its also called Tom Trauberts Blues, as well as waltzing Matilda, thats why I couldn't find any info on it.
Waltzing Matilda is the traditional Australian song - this is different, written by Tom Waits after his split from his partner.

He spent a year on the booze, in France I think, and this is a biographical song about that time.

Rods version is damn good but Toms is incredible.
And to think, before today I thought it was a Rolf Harris song.
We live and learn.
Sorry to correct you Ethel. but waltzing Matilda is actually a British tune called "walking a bulldog", hijacked by the Australians and turned into waltzing Matilda. The original is here

i had it on his greatest hits albun from around 2002 i think
it's on Spanner in the works album

caz
it was written by Banjo Patterson in 1895, so I wouldn't bet that a song about a policeman on his bicycle was older. It may come from an 1818 Scottish tune.
