Lisa de Anton (as far as anyone knows!)
Although it's known as La Giaconda, it should be better called La Gherandini. Lisa Gherdinia was the wife of the Florentine businessman Fransesco Giocondo (Gioconda is the feminised version). It was identified as such by Giorgio Vasari's biography. Although it was published 30 years after Leonardo's death, Vasari was a talented Renaissance artist and surely would have researched Leonardo thoroughly.
