When norton identifies and quarantines, it moves them to a protected sub-folder in which you can then freely delete the contents from. Have you done this? If you have and the next time you boot and run your anti-virus only to find the little "darlings" are still on your machine, me thinks it is time to purchase the latest and greatest version of your anti viri software which will no doubt be able to properly clean your registry. Anti virus software has to evolve along with the b@$t@Rd$ who write them, I get sick and tired of people who complain their anti virus software they got free with their computer 3 years ago isn't working!!!!!!
I'm afraid I have exactly the same problem, and that Joanne has rather missed the point in her reply. Yes, my (current, regularly-updated) Norton Anti-Virus is very good at spotting Trojans, and normally manages to quarantine them as stated. But when I attempt to delete them altogether, NAV almost always fails to do so, "Cannot Delete" being the usual informative message. I've often wondered about this, and have been very unsuccessful in getting any further answers or assistance even from Norton in the past. As far as I know, all of my previously-found Trojans are still sitting happily on my hard-drive (although in "quarantine" and therefore, I understand, functionally inactive) but I don't know of any successful way to get rid of them altogether. I'll now have a good look at the site that PaulB has pointed us to...!!
thank you all for your helpful information. in responce ton Joanne, you have helped me to actually delete the trojans. i hate to admit in my fury with them i omited to notice i could delete from the quarantine. Thank you to Paul for pointing me in the right direction for future help and thank you Tommy - good luck with trying to get ride of the trojans! One other thing i have learn't is that sometimes it is not a bad thing to have virus's in quarantine as this help norton to identify them on your pc and not allow them in. Anyway thank you all again B--ie
