just watched bloody omaha.They did not mention once about the special tanks that failed to make it onto the beach.The americans did not use the tanks to a large extent.
On the british beaachs dd tanks were used .They swam ashore and were available to blast the german bunkers.

The Americans thought many of them were rather strange and refused to use them.
There was a documentary on the TV (Discovery?) a year or so back.

Puts iraq war into perspective.
This was a World War legend758duo, not a localised war against insurgents, and I don't think there has been any cruise missiles used in Iraq or Afghanistan, as you suggest.
And to somehow try to belittle these conflics against the much larger World War, just because there has not been the same huge lost of life, is being somewhat insensitive to the families of those that have lost their lives on both sides.
