Hi dot - How did you manage to go back that far lol!
I've got quite a collection of Manchester history books now. The one I originally mentioned ' The lost rivers of Manchester' Geoffrey Ashworth, was a publication from 1987. This recent one by Keith Warrender covers some of the same info plus lots more! Last summer me and my husband took some before and after pics( gathering old pics from Central library archives then pinpointing the same spot/camera point and taking an up to date pic, fascinating! xxx
This sounds interesting, will have a look for this tomorrow.

Hi tickled - It's really fascinating! I tried Waterstones in the Manchester arndale & they were sold out! I asked if they had any copies at their other branch and they said, no, but we have about a hundred copies on order!!! Anyway, in the end I went in WHS & managed to get hold of one. xxx
Thanks skyep, at trafford centre tomorrow so I will look there. Has sold out on amazon already looked. I also remember seeing a signpost on a recent TV programme for a war bunker in Manchester, do you know where that will be? I think the show was Blue Murder which was filmed in Manchester

Hi tickled - Sorry I went missing!! Have'nt heard of this 'blue murder' If you find anything out, can you let me know please? xxx
What part of Manchester are you from tickled?
I'm not, I live in Preston, but go to Manchester fairly often and family lived there for some time. I think that this bunker was somewhere near Stockport
It is the Stockport air raid shelters, knew it was something to do with WW2. They run under the centre of Stockport and are now open to the public. I think it looks worth a visit xx
Got the book this morning and it looks really good. Waterstones told me it was out of print, but went in WHS and they had a big display. Probably ending up losing it to my Dad who lived in Manchester City Centre for years though. Thx for the tip
