Quantity Surveyor Career Change

Hi, I'm 26 and currently work in a payments section within a finance department, but after 5 years in this i am looking for a career change. Due to a family history in the construction trade, i have always had a keen interest in working in the industry, inparticular the commercial side as a Quantity Surveyor. I don't hold any construction related qualifications but am willing to attend college/university to gain this. Having now been involved in my current job for 5 years, i feel it's either now or never to explore my ambition of finally becoming involved in construction. All i'd like to know if there's any companies that anyone knows of any companies in the north west that would offer an opportunity to train people seeking a career change as all i've seen having browsed the internet is advertisements for school/college leavers.
