can anyone tell me what the Google earth Pillboxes are all about? I know they have something to do with the military but they are all over the place.

You don't say where, but I think you'll find they were built during WW2 for the anticipated invasion by Germany (Operation Sealion) they were placed on the coast and anywhere of strategic importance to help repel the enemy.

thanks 123. If you go to any British town on google earth, click on one of the blue dots and 9 times out of 10 it is a pillbox
