Hello, I've been reading some of Herodotus's "The Histories" and I was wondering how it was that the Greeks were able to defeat the Persians while the Egyptians and other cultures were not? If you have any information, opinions, or can direct me to where I might find some I would be very thankful.

I hope that you won't feel offended if I direct you to a site that has "for kids" as part of its title:
http://www.socialstudiesforkids.com/subjects/p ersianwars.htm

You'll find that the site gives a very clear summary of the Persian wars, including consideration of why the Greeks were triumphant.
