Sachs - why do you have to be a mug to take advantage of a buy one get one free offer. If it's a product that you use/eat/drink anyway and has a long shelf life, why not?
A while back Tesco had an offer on the Typhoo teabags I use - I think they were 2,49 for 160 but then they did a buy one get one free, so I bought half a dozen each week for about 4 weeks. I still have about 17 packs of teabags so won't be buying that again for about a year. Similarly, they did an offer on Weetabix recently which my husband has every day. Instead of 1.78 for the 24 pack, it was two packs for 2. Again, i've really stocked up, they have a long shelf life and I won't be buying Weetabix until next year. We won't eat any more of them or drink any more tea just because I have a big supply at the moment so I certainly don't feel a mug,
